How will CPEC and Gwadar port be operational in the coming years and contribute to the economy

The City of Gwadar is being developed fast by the governments of Pakistan and China. The fact that it has Pakistan’s biggest deep sea port and it is the starting point of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) gives the city immense strategic and economic value. It should be noted that the success of the CPEC initiative depends on how well the port is functioning.

The Gwadar port needs to be fully functional sooner than later, as it needs to be able to work like a port of international standards. To facilitate the growing population of the city various energy and power plants are being developed under CPEC to provide electricity. With advancements to the port and highways improving connectivity, the city will soon be a place of vast number of opportunities. In fact Gwadar property has instantly become a popular choice of asset and various analysts have predicted that the value of land for sale in Gwadar is expect to rise in the coming future.

Pakistan’s ambassador to ChinaMasood Khalid has expressed his views that in the last few years, the economic indicators of Pakistan have significantly improved and various experts and analysts have appreciated the recent stability of the micro-economics with in the country. According to him the growth in the economic sector has also contributed to the improvement of the country’s GDP by 4.7%, and is hopeful that this year the GDP will increase by at least 5%.
All of these economical and industrial advancements aim to create jobs and opportunities for the people of Pakistan. Unemployment being a prevalent issue in the country is being countered through the CPEC and Gwadar port.

The Gwadar port currently has 3 operational berths, after the phase II of the development of the port is completed by COPHC, the port is going to have 4 additional large multipurpose berths which will be able to accommodate large ferries and carriers. This will most likely create hundreds of thousands of jobs, around an estimated figure of 200,000 which will benefit the population of the country.
